Participating in research

Participating in research

Taking part in research studies can have benefits for Australians with bleeding disorders or their partners, families or carers.

  • In Australia decisions about health services, treatment and care are strongly influenced by research in the area. If you participate in research, you can have a voice in decisions that might affect you in the future
  • You may have access to newer treatments or care not generally available
  • Your contribution might lead to improvements in health services, treatment and care for you and others in the future.

Research studies can have both advantages and disadvantages for people who take part in them. It's up to you to be satisfied that you know enough about this before you agree to take part in a research study. These pages give more information on research studies for people affected by bleeding disorders.
