Hepatitis Awareness Week 2009
Hepatitis Awareness Week - 18-24 May 2009
World Hepatitis Day is celebrated globally on 19 May. The theme this year is "Am I number 12? 1 in 12 people worldwide live with hepatitis B or hepatitis C."
How is this relevant to people with bleeding disorders affected by hepatitis C? Haemophilia Foundation Australia(HFA)'s Hepatitis Awareness Week Working Group, in collaboration with Hepatitis Australia, have developed a local theme specifically for the bleeding disorders community:
"I am number 12: I am part of a worldwide community with hepatitis C, but this is my story."
This is about telling the particular stories of those people with bleeding disorders who have been affected by hepatitis C.
For Hepatitis Awareness Week 2009 HFA has released:
- Personal stories about living with a bleeding disorder and hepatitis C
- Fact sheets on telling people you have hepatitis C and a bleeding disorder
