Funds needed for vital programs

“I urge you to get behind us–please make a gift today so we can support these vital peer support programs.”
Sharon Caris, Executive Director

Every year it is a challenge coming up with funds for vital programs which greatly enhance the quality of life of both people affected and their families.

Right now we have a range of programs to help children, adults and families affected by haemophilia and other bleeding disorders live active and fulfilling lives.

The programs are life changing and empowering, providing education, fellowship and support; programs such as family camps, men’s outreach, women’s groups and outreach meetings which are of tremendous benefit to participants.

Sharyn, a mother with two sons affected by haemophilia, who has attended a previous Family Camp, recently shared with me that the camp was one of the most valuable programs the family had been involved in.

“I think haemophilia can be very isolating because it is so rare,” said Sharyn.

“As younger kids, the personal development and sense of confidence and self-acceptance that they gain from being able to connect with other people with haemophilia is enormous.”

“For parents or siblings, being able to make connections with other families, having that chance to chat with them and talk about haemophilia and how you cope with it, it reduces your own stress load.”

We need to raise $20,000 to ensure programs, such as the family camp, continue.

A gift of $150 will help fund a women’s group meeting, providing support and fellowship to mothers and partners of those living with haemophilia.

A larger gift of $250 will help pay for a young boy to attend a weekend-long annual youth camp where he is assured of building essential friendships and supports, as well as gaining valuable information about living with a bleeding disorder.

A very generous gift of $1000 will help allow a family of four to attend the camp so not only will the young people benefit from the unique weekend away, but their parents will also have the opportunity to build much-needed support networks and learn more about raising a child with a bleeding disorder

Your gift today will make a difference in the lives of those we help for years to come.

Any amount you choose to give will make a tremendous difference. The practical and emotional support you make possible today through your gift will have lasting impact throughout the entire lives of young boys, men and families affected by bleeding disorders.
