HAEMOPHILIA FOUNDATION RESEARCH FUND AND GRANTS

Each year HFA funds research programs for haemophilia and related bleeding disorders. We are continuously seeking donations for the research fund.


During the 2002/2003 year HFA made the second and final payment for:
  • Dr Julie Curtin, Gene Therapy Research Unit, The Children?s Hospital, Westmead, the second payment of $26,926 was made for: In vivo selection for liver-directed gene therapy: towards a cure for haemophilia

  • Dr Graeme Macdonald, Department of Medicine, The University of Queensland, Brisbane, the second payment of $5,000 was paid for: Symptom impact for people living with haemophilia and hepatitis C
HFA made a grant to the following research for the first time:
  • Dr John Rasko, Centenary Institute, Cancer Medicine & Cell Biology, NSW, an amount of $11,000 for:
  • Towards a cure for haemophilia: development of a preclinical model of gene therapy

RESEARCH GRANT OFFERS


Haemophilia Foundation Research Fund offers are advertised in the media, National Haemophilia, and through major hospitals and research institutions. Research ideas canvassed from the wider haemophilia medical and lay community have been reviewed by all Haemophilia Centre Directors.
