Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month is an opportunity for individuals and families as well as Haemophilia Foundations and other organisations to take part in a campaign and activities to raise awareness about haemophilia, von Willebrand disease and related inherited bleeding disorders around Australia.
What's on for the month
The theme this year for Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month is 'Working Together'. Throughout the month we'll share information on how everyone in our community works together to support people with bleeding disorders and raise awareness.
We'll share personal stories, bust some myths about bleeding disorders, and direct you to resources on taking care of yourself and your mental wellbeing. There will also be activities for kids, events, information sessions, competitions, and more.
The last week of October will be Red Week. During the week organize an activity with your family or friends around something red – wear red to school, bake red cupcakes, red hair day – the ideas are endless!!

How you can get involved
There are many ways to participate in Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month. Here are just a few ideas:
- Host a red-themed morning tea at school or work
- Have a 'dress in red' day where people either dress in red, or wear a red item to work – like a red tie or a red pair of shoes
- Run a pop-up stall selling red cupcakes
- Join in on the kids activities, including colour-in competitions and scavenger hunts
- Attend one of the Foundation events held in your local state
- Put up BDAM posters around your school or workplace
