What a huge month we've had! Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month
(BDAM) spanned the entirety of October, and saw individuals, families, Haemophilia Foundations and other organisations all helping to raise awareness about haemophilia, von Willebrand disease and hereditary bleeding disorders around Australia.
The theme, 'Working together
', was embraced fully as everyone came together in support of our bleeding disorders community.
Throughout the month we featured different personal stories from our community members. Read them here:
Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month wouldn't be the same without our kids activities! This month kids (and adults) had fun finding red items for the Scavenger Hunt
, testing their eyes with the Word Find
and getting out the pens and pencils for the Colour-in Competition
We're still accepting submissions for the colour-in comp - if you or your family want to take part please get them to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 10 November
It was so great seeing everyone in the community getting together to help raise awareness. Information desks at HTCs, red dress days, walks, trivia nights and even a spooky halloween-themed bake sale! Thank you everyone for your support and for sending through photos. If we've missed any, please let us know - there will be a feature in December's issue of National Haemophilia
A big thank you to the Haemophilia State & Territory Foundations for running heaps of events throughout the month. It was a wonderful opportunity for members to catch up and have a fun time out.
Foundation events across Australia were a great way for community members to catch up.
The HFA team got in on the action and all dressed in red!
Information booths at hospitals were a great way to help raise awareness.
As always, the kids stole the show - making red treats to share and teaching their friends and classmates about bleeding disorders.
