New government inquiry into hep C
Friday, 5 December 2014

HFA welcomes the inquiry into hepatitis C started this week by the Australian Government House of Representatives Standing Committee on Health.
This is an important opportunity for us to highlight the experiences of people with bleeding disorders affected by hepatitis C:
- the impact of long-term infection
- access to testing and treatment nationally
- and the importance of effective strategies to prevent transmission - and stigma and discrimination.
Understanding the reality of living with hepatitis C for individuals will be crucial to this inquiry.
HFA will be making a submission to the inquiry. But we will need your help with this!
WATCH THIS SPACE – SURVEY COMING!
In the next week we will post an online survey for community members to describe their experiences so that the HFA submission has the power of your words and your situation.
You may also wish to make your own submission.
More information is available at www.aph.gov.au/hepatitisC.
The deadline for submissions is Friday 27 February 2015.
PBAC SUBMISSION – NEW TREATMENTS
Access to new Direct Acting Antiviral treatments for people with bleeding disorders and hepatitis C is also a priority for HFA.
HFA will make a submission to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC) in February 2015 about the importance of government funding for these new treatments.
