Rare Disease Day

Today – 29 February 2016, a rare day on our calendar – is Rare Disease Day.

It’s a day when people living with a rare disease, or those affected by it, community organisations, carers and health professionals, researchers, government and industry come together in solidarity to raise awareness of rare diseases.

In 2016 the theme of ‘Patient Voice’ recognises the important role that patients play in voicing their needs and in initiating change to improve their lives and the lives of their families and carers.

Give your support to Rare Disease Day.

The Rare Disease Day slogan for 2016 is ‘Join us in making the voice of rare diseases heard’. It asks those who are not living with or directly affected by a rare disease to join the rare disease community to raise awareness about the impact of rare diseases.

People living with a rare disease and their families often feel very alone. The support and understanding of the wider community can help to overcome this feeling of isolation.
