We have received a number of queries from community members about the COVID-19 vaccines and special issues for people with bleeding disorders. This includes questions about the AstraZeneca vaccine and whether people with bleeding disorders are more at risk of blood clotting issues.
We have consulted with the Australian Haemophilia Centre Director’s Organisation (AHCDO) and they have confirmed that there is no change to their previous advice on the vaccines for people with bleeding disorders – see the HFA COVID-19 vaccine FAQs (18 February 2021)
For the latest advice from the Australian Government to all Australians about the COVID-19 vaccines, visit the COVID-19 vaccines section on the Australian Government Department of Health website.
