Winter might have arrived, but there’s no sign of slowing down here at the HFA office. This month we share the youth videos from Congress, introduce our new podcast, and announce that the 2027 Australian Bleeding Disorders Conference is heading to Sydney!
We also share Cassie and Noah’s story, about raising a young boy with haemophilia, and Project Elevate Her, Maia’s plan to climb seven summits in three years to raise awareness for women’s health and bleeding disorders.

Youth videos from Congress
With thanks to sponsorship from CSL Behring and Sanofi, HFA was able to send nine young Aussies with bleeding disorders across to Malaysia for the WFH World Congress. While they were there, they attended sessions, met other people with bleeding disorders, learned more about the global treatment landscape… and made a bunch of videos!
Watch as they share their hopes for Congress, and reflections on returning home, and as they interview other Congress attendees and presenters from all over the world.

The Australian Bleeding Disorders Conference – Australia’s foremost event for the entire bleeding disorders community – is coming to Sydney on 20-21 August 2027!
Featuring presentations and social events, the Conference brings together people from all areas of our community – people with bleeding disorders, family, health professionals, industry and more – to catch-up, learn about new & emerging therapies, and drive change.
HFA now has a podcast
Introducing: Bleeding Disorders and Beyond. A podcast has been on the cards for years – we know many of our community members would love to be able to listen to our content on their commute or while on the move, and now you can!
The podcast will feature interviews from community members and health professionals on a range of topics, including new and emerging treatments.

Project Elevate Her
Maia is a Canadian mountaineer, endurance athlete, and women’s health advocate. She also has von Willebrand disease.
Over the next three years, Maia plans to climb Mont Blanc, Manaslu, Carstensz Pyramid, Kosciusko, Everest, Elbrus and Denali. Seven summits. Five continents. One mission to elevate women’s voices worldwide.
Project Elevate Her is a global initiative focused on improving quality of life for women living with bleeding disorders by accelerating diagnosis and access to care.
Using the Seven Summits as a platform, the campaign drives awareness, advocacy, and funding in partnership with leading international organisations.
Life with an extra challenge
Cassie is a mum of three children: William, Noah and Isabelle. Their busy household is full of the usual noise and energy of family life. But for Noah, their second son, life comes with an extra challenge; he was diagnosed with haemophilia B at birth.
Cassie shares her experience raising a young son with haemophilia, and her advice for other families.
“Build a strong support network, trust your instincts, and don’t be afraid to advocate for your child. Our Haemophilia Treatment Centre team has been incredible.”
