The new year has arrived and we’ve hit the ground running! This year is shaping up to be huge for the Australian bleeding disorders community, with lots on both nationally and locally.
Below is a list of the national events you can participate in. For information about what’s on in your local state or territory, such as camps, breakfasts, playgroups, and more, head to your local Foundation website.
Bleeding Disorders Events in Australia – 2026
Rare Disease Day
28 February 2026 – Each year we mark Rare Disease Day, sharing information and stories from members of our community with rare – and very rare – bleeding disorders.
International Women’s Day
8 March 2026 – International Women’s Day is an opportunity to highlight the challenges faced by women and girls with bleeding disorders, promote strategies to improve their health and wellbeing and empowering them to self-advocate, and celebrate the women in our community.
World Haemophilia Day
17 April 2026 – World Haemophilia Day is recognised globally to raise awareness of haemophilia, von Willebrand disease and other bleeding disorders. Around the world, landmarks light up red in recognition. This year’s theme is Diagnosis: First step to care.
WFH 2026 World Congress
19-22 April 2026 – WFH 2026 World Congress is coming to Malaysia! Join the global bleeding disorders community at this massive event in Kuala Lumpur.
Men’s Health Week
8-14 June 2026 – Men’s Health Week encourages men and boys in our community to prioritise their health and wellbeing, including their mental health.
World Hepatitis Day
28 July 2026 – Each year HFA works in partnership with Hepatitis Australia, hepatitis and haemophilia medical experts and state and territory Haemophilia Foundations in a worldwide campaign to eliminate viral hepatitis. Our campaign also focuses on ways to act on the health consequences for people with bleeding disorders who have been affected by viral hepatitis.
Women’s Health Week
7-13 September 2026 – Women’s Health Week is an opportunity to shine a light on women’s health in Australia. Throughout the week, we will look at ways to help women prioritise their health and wellbeing.
Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month (BDAM)
1-31 October 2026 – Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month is an opportunity for us to connect as a community, and educate the broader public about bleeding disorders. You can get involved through events, special activities, social media, and by sharing your story.
International Men’s Day
19 November 2026 – International Men’s Day is a global event celebrating the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities. We take the opportunity to highlight positive role models and raise awareness of men and boys’ health and wellbeing.
World AIDS Day
1 December 2026 – On World AIDS Day we aim to raise awareness about the impact of HIV on the bleeding disorders community, remember those lost, and consider ways to demonstrate our ongoing support for people affected in our community.
