South Australia Family Day

On Saturday 23 May 2026 Haemophilia Foundation Australia hosted a fantastic family day for the South Australian bleeding disorders community at Adelaide Zoo, bringing together more than 100 community members for a day of learning and fun.

We heard from some great speakers, including Dr Chee Wee Tan (haematologist and Director of the Haemophilia Treatment Centre at The Royal Adelaide Hospital), Anne Jackson (Haemophilia Nurse Consultant at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital, Adelaide) and one of our inspiring youth members, Dev. Their presentations provided valuable insights with updates on the latest treatment information and personal perspectives from attending the recent WFH World Congress in Malaysia.

After the presentations, everyone enjoyed a light lunch together before setting off to explore the zoo. There were plenty of highlights throughout the afternoon, including the pandas making a rare appearance, the very vocal gibbons and the ever-popular, laid-back capybaras.

Delicious scones and warm sunshine topped off a relaxed and enjoyable afternoon.

It was wonderful to see so many families and friends come together and share a special day with each other.
