Project Elevate Her

Project Elevate Her is a global initiative focused on improving quality of life for women living with bleeding disorders by accelerating diagnosis and access to care.

Maia Meier will complete a series of high-altitude expeditions across the Seven Summits (the highest mountain on each continent). She completed Mount Blanc in June and her next expedition is Manaslu. In Australia she will climb Mount Kosciuszko in 2028.

The journey also represents a historic athletic milestone. Through the expedition, Meier aims to become the first woman living with a bleeding disorder to complete the Seven Summits and the second Canadian woman to climb the Seven Summits and ski to the South Pole.

Maia has von Willebrand disease.

‘For many women with bleeding disorders, the most difficult part isn’t the condition itself – it’s being recognized and believed. Project Elevate Her is about bringing visibility to those experiences while also showing what becomes possible when women are properly supported,’ said Maia.

Haemophilia Foundation Australia will partner with the World Federation of Hemophilia, Bleeding Disorders Canada, European Haemophilia Consortium and National Bleeding Disorders Foundation on this campaign.

‘Mountaineering at this level requires preparation, resilience, and trust in your body. That experience reflects what many women with bleeding disorders navigate every day. The goal is not simply to climb mountains – it’s to create space for conversations that have been missing for far too long.’
